b. is for Bosco
I stumbled across the Atlanta born gem that is Bosco as she was playing a crazy set at the Sound Table on Edgewood Ave. I remember stopping her in a cantina down the street because:
1. Her faux locs were to die for
2. Her set was great, and
3. Her energy just calls you
So, I had to introduce myself after I considered all of this.
When she told me she made music, I thought cool I’m sure I would love it and I was determined to hear it once whatever it was released. But, nothing prepared me for how much I was going to love her debut project “b.”
All the reasons why.
There is something about the electronic feels that back all her tracks that just kind of carry you from track to track. “Luv U” is probably the track that speaks to me the most, because for real boy, “let me love you.” The vocals that accompany this track and all the others, kind of threw me off. There is something so effortless about the way she presents her music and it is so refreshing. I don’t know what I was expecting her sound to be like, but it wasn’t this, and for that I am grateful.
Her first feature on the project was the other Atlanta-based dynamic duo St. Beauty on the track “Castles.” Their ethereal vocals cascade around the back end of the track and occasionally pop in and out with hers. The three of them were a match made in electronic-feels heaven. There was one line that had me like whoa, “your crown just fell apart and you cant heal my broken heart.” When I first heard the hook I didn’t understand it, but then I began to think about it. Maybe she saw this person in a light that made her think they could have been everything, but then she came to her senses and realized that they weren’t what she thought? I don’t know, maybe I’m being fake deep but I love a good line that will challenge me to think, and that was it.
This project stole my electric heart and will be a staple in my musical repertoire, because it’s just so timeless. It’s like something so futuristic, and current at the same time, how is that even possible? Anyway, you can snatch your life together by listening to b. on all major streaming sites. Make sure you download her project on itunes. Follow her Instagram for aesthetics for days and her twitter.
Don’t forget, thank me later.
